GOP Ideology
The Republican Party and its members hold several notable beliefs. In order to be a member of the party, a person must agree with and be in support of all of them. The first and some would say most important, belief held by Republicans is that American citizens are very fortunate to live and be a part of this nation. Republicans are appreciative of the rights that they have bee given.
In addition to believing that every person has the right to be himself and to live as he chooses, the Republican party believes that people are capable of reaching their goals, no matter who they are. It is thought that through the right amounts of hard work, support from the family, and self discipline, people can do and become anything.
Members of the Republican party also seek to be giving individuals and believing in servicing their community whenever possible. They do not, however, support required taxation or forced redistribution.
The party supports the notion that a small government is an ideal government. It believes that limiting government keeps it from becoming so overpowering as to harm the rights of American citizens.
As mentioned briefly above, members of the Republican party seek to keep taxes low in order to enable American citizens to spend their money as they see fit.
The Republican party believes in and supports free markets and in encouraging individuals to start their own businesses and companies to enjoy their success.
The party also supports the armed forces and believes in a strong national defense.
Those who find themselves in accordance with these beliefs and who are also in support of the political viewpoints and standings of the Republican party are encouraged to join. They can take part in a local GOP organization, or they can simply register as Republicans and choose to vote as Republicans in all matters that they see fit.
